U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio praised the leadership of His Majesty King Mohammed VI in promoting peace and security both regionally and internationally. In a statement released on January 27, 2025, in Washington, following a phone conversation with Moroccan Foreign Minister Nasser Bourita, Rubio highlighted the importance of the strategic partnership between the United States and Morocco. This partnership, he emphasized, plays a key role in the stability of the region and in addressing global crises, particularly in the Middle East and North Africa.

During this exchange, the two officials discussed crucial issues for regional peace, such as the implementation of the ceasefire agreement in Gaza, hostage release, and international humanitarian coordination. Rubio expressed his appreciation for Morocco’s leading role in delivering humanitarian aid to Palestinians, highlighting the Kingdom’s commitment to peace and stability in the Middle East. This humanitarian commitment is part of a long-standing tradition of Moroccan solidarity, working to ease tensions in the region.

The discussions also focused on joint efforts to strengthen cooperation in combating global conflicts. The Secretary of State reaffirmed the U.S. commitment to enhancing its partnership with Morocco, particularly through the Abraham Accords, a process aimed at normalizing relations between Israel and several Arab countries. Morocco, as a key member of this process, continues to play an important role as a mediator in bringing together different parties in the Middle East conflict while supporting Palestinian aspirations for peace.

In addition to security and diplomatic issues, both officials emphasized the importance of deepening trade relations between the two countries. The U.S. Secretary of State pointed out that strengthening bilateral investments and trade would benefit not only the two nations but also their respective peoples. Morocco, as a strategic gateway to Africa, and the United States, with their economic capabilities, have considerable potential to develop mutually beneficial economic partnerships.

This meeting served to further strengthen ties between the U.S. and Morocco in various areas, ranging from international diplomacy to the economy. HM King Mohammed VI’s leadership in promoting peace and stability was a central point of this conversation, marking a new step in the consolidation of bilateral relations between the two nations.
