Two French Nationals Arrested in Marrakech Under International Warrant

Moroccan authorities arrested two French nationals on Sunday, February 23, who were wanted by French authorities and subject to INTERPOL red notices. The operation, conducted by the Marrakech Prefectural Judicial Police in coordination with the General Directorate for Territorial Surveillance (DGST), led to the apprehension of the suspects, aged 28 and 38, after an extensive investigation that pinpointed their location.
According to the initial findings of the investigation, the two individuals were involved in a premeditated murder that took place on May 14, 2024, in France. This crime was allegedly carried out as part of an organized criminal network targeting employees of a French penitentiary facility. The purpose of this criminal operation was reportedly to facilitate the escape of French detainee of Algerian origin, Mohamed Amra, who was recently arrested in Romania.
In addition to this murder, the suspects are also accused of various criminal acts linked to an organized crime gang. The charges include illegal possession of firearms, armed robbery, fraud, attempted murder, as well as acts of vandalism and destruction of public and private property. These allegations further underscore the dangerous nature of the network to which they belong.
The two individuals have been placed in custody pending a judicial investigation under the supervision of the competent prosecutor. As part of the security cooperation agreements between Morocco and France, French authorities have been informed of their arrest, and the necessary procedures for their extradition have been initiated. This intervention highlights the effectiveness of security collaboration between both countries in the fight against transnational crime.
This arrest demonstrates the vigilance and rigor of Moroccan security services in tracking down international criminals. It aligns with Morocco’s strategy to strengthen international security cooperation and effectively combat organized crime. The success of this operation reaffirms the Kingdom’s role as a key player in maintaining regional and global security.
