The CNDP launches efforts to regulate Artificial Intelligence and personal data

The National Commission for the Protection of Personal Data (CNDP) has recently announced the start of a project to regulate the processing of Artificial Intelligence (AI) involving personal data. This initiative is part of an effort to ensure the integrity, transparency, fairness, and clarity of processes involving personal data, while providing citizens with legal recourse in line with Law 09-08.
In this context, the CNDP conducted an international benchmark to examine AI and personal data regulation practices in other countries. Consultations have also been held with data protection agencies worldwide to define guidelines that address current challenges related to privacy protection and the rapid development of technologies.
The commission also plans to hear from key stakeholders on the issue. Among the concerned parties are national and international experts, scientific and professional organizations, as well as institutions and civil society associations. The goal is to gather a diversity of perspectives and expertise to enrich the debate and ensure balanced regulation that respects citizens’ rights.
Finally, the CNDP invites all interested parties to submit their contributions by sending an email to auditions-ia@cndp.ma, a step that reflects the commission’s desire to open an inclusive dialogue on this crucial issue for personal data protection and AI regulation in Morocco.
