His Majesty the King Inaugurates the Mohammed VI International Hospital-University Complex in Rabat and Launches the Mohammed VI University Hospital in Agadir

His Majesty King Mohammed VI, may God assist Him, accompanied by His Royal Highness the Crown Prince Moulay El Hassan, inaugurated on Monday, November 3, 2025, the Mohammed VI International Hospital-University Complex in Rabat, a major project aimed at positioning Morocco among regional and international benchmarks in the health sector. On this occasion, the Sovereign also gave His High Instructions for the commissioning of the Mohammed VI University Hospital in Agadir, marking a new step in strengthening the Kingdom’s medical and academic infrastructure.

Symbolizing a royal vision focused on modernization and equitable access to healthcare, the Rabat Complex was realized by the Mohammed VI Foundation for Science and Health. Designed as an integrated center combining patient care, research, and education, this project reflects the High Royal Benevolence toward Moroccan citizens and the Sovereign’s determination to provide everyone with cutting-edge medical services based on innovation, quality, and sustainability.

Covering an area of 280,000 m², the complex comprises two main entities: the Mohammed VI International University Hospital of Rabat and the Mohammed VI University of Science and Health. The hospital, with an initial capacity of 600 beds expandable to 1,000, hosts more than thirty centers of medical excellence, including robotic surgery, neurosurgery, interventional cardiology, and oncology. It is also equipped with state-of-the-art technology, such as the PET-MRI — a first in Africa — a fully automated laboratory platform, and a robotic pharmacy. The adjacent university can accommodate up to 8,000 students, providing high-level training across its various faculties and specialized schools.

Meanwhile, the Mohammed VI University Hospital in Agadir, built on 30 hectares with an investment of 3.1 billion dirhams, is established as a regional medical center of excellence serving the population of the Souss-Massa region. With 867 beds, ultra-modern medical-surgical centers, and the Revo I surgical robot — a first in Africa — this hospital will bring specialized care closer to citizens and provide comprehensive services, particularly in cardiology, intensive care, and advanced surgery.

These two institutions, true pillars of the new national health policy, illustrate His Majesty the King’s determination to strengthen the healthcare system, promote medical training, and support regional development. Beyond their medical and scientific contributions, the Rabat Complex and the Agadir University Hospital will create thousands of direct and indirect jobs, contributing to the Kingdom’s economic, social, and human development in line with the Royal Vision of a modern, equitable, and resilient Morocco.
