Joe Wilson: Under the leadership of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, Morocco has emerged as a model of stability and reform

Washington, July 16, 2025 – Morocco today stands out as a key player in regional stability and political reform, stated U.S. Congressman Joe Wilson, emphasizing that under the leadership of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, the Kingdom has become a model of stability, reform, and constructive engagement.

Speaking to MAP in Washington, the Republican congressman highlighted Morocco’s significant progress in diverse areas such as governance, individual freedoms, and interfaith dialogue. For him, these achievements reflect a royal vision based on gradual modernization and openness.

“His Majesty’s reformist will has enabled Morocco to chart its own course, blending tradition with the demands of the contemporary world,” he said. He particularly praised efforts to promote women’s rights, religious pluralism, and social cohesion.

On environmental and economic matters, Mr. Wilson pointed out the Sovereign’s long-standing commitment to sustainable development, noting that this approach has positioned the Kingdom as a credible leader in Africa and the Euro-Mediterranean region.

Reflecting on the historic ties between Rabat and Washington, the congressman recalled that Morocco was the first country to recognize the independence of the United States. “This friendship dates back nearly 250 years and has only grown stronger,” he stated.

For Joe Wilson, the Morocco-U.S. partnership is now built on mutual trust and strategic cooperation—whether in counterterrorism, economic exchange, or diplomatic coordination. To him, Morocco is a steady and reliable ally for the United States.

He concluded by expressing his admiration for the King’s efforts in promoting peace and regional security, highlighting that Morocco’s initiatives reflect values deeply respected and shared by the United States: tolerance, stability, and shared prosperity.
