Moroccan Sahara: HM the King Highlights Growing International Support for the Autonomy Proposal

On the occasion of His Throne Speech, His Majesty King Mohammed VI expressed deep satisfaction with the increasing international backing of the Moroccan Autonomy Proposal, now recognized as the only viable solution to the conflict over the Moroccan Sahara. This support marks a decisive milestone in the global recognition of the Moroccan initiative.
The Sovereign especially thanked the United Kingdom and the Portuguese Republic, referred to as “friendly countries,” for their constructive positions, which strengthen the broad consensus already in favor of the Autonomy Proposal. These endorsements reinforce Morocco’s legitimacy and sovereignty over its Sahara.
His Majesty stated that these positions, based on law and legitimacy, are a source of honor and pride for the Kingdom. They also bolster Morocco’s determination to reach a consensual, balanced, and respectful solution “where there will be neither winners nor losers,” emphasizing the importance of a peaceful settlement.
In a spirit of national gratitude, the King paid tribute to all security forces of the Kingdom — the Royal Armed Forces, the Royal Gendarmerie, Territorial Administration, National Security, Auxiliary Forces, and Civil Protection — for their unwavering commitment under His command. Their role is crucial in defending national unity and maintaining stability and security.
This part of the speech reaffirms Morocco’s firm stance on its territorial integrity and highlights the dynamism of its diplomacy, which, thanks to an offensive, credible, and constructive strategy, continues to mobilize growing international support on the Sahara issue.
