Central African Economic and Monetary Community Parliament Reaffirms Member States’ Support for the Moroccanness of the Sahara

The President of the Parliament of the Central African Economic and Monetary Community (CEMAC), Évariste Ngamana, reiterated on Tuesday in Rabat the unwavering stance of member states in support of the Moroccanness of the Sahara.

“Central African countries, namely Cameroon, the Central African Republic, Congo, Gabon, Equatorial Guinea, and Chad, reaffirm their support for Morocco’s sovereignty over its entire territory, including the Sahara,” stressed Ngamana during talks with the President of the House of Councillors, Mohamed Ould Errachid.

On this occasion, Ngamana, visiting the Kingdom at the head of a high-level delegation, praised the enlightened vision of HM King Mohammed VI for a “strong and developed” Africa.

He highlighted the major development projects launched under the Sovereign’s leadership to benefit the African continent, notably the Dakhla Atlantic Port — a flagship project of the new development model for the Southern Provinces — as well as the Atlantic African Gas Pipeline, which reflects Morocco’s commitment to South-South cooperation.

In the area of parliamentary diplomacy, he recalled that last January, a memorandum of understanding was signed in Rabat between the House of Councillors and CEMAC, aiming to establish a framework for exchange and give new momentum to bilateral cooperation.

The parliamentary official expressed his satisfaction with his participation in the Parliamentary Forum on Economic Cooperation between Morocco and CEMAC, scheduled for next Friday under the high patronage of HM King Mohammed VI.

This renewed declaration of support marks a significant milestone in strengthening relations between Morocco and Central African countries on the Sahara issue and regional economic development.

It also reflects the growing alignment of African parliamentary institutions with the Kingdom’s integrative and forward-looking vision for the continent.
