Abdelatif Hammouchi: The Man Who Honors International Security

Abdelatif Hammouchi, Director General of National Security and Territorial Surveillance, is a man who embodies discipline, competence, and dedication in the field of security. Despite the relentless attacks from some detractors like Mohamed Hajib, Hicham Jerando, and Zakaria Moumni, Hammouchi continues to receive praise and international distinctions that testify to his leadership role in security. On February 16, 2025, he was awarded the prestigious Prince Nayef Order for Arab Security, first class, in recognition of his efforts to preserve security and stability in the Arab world.

The criticisms of these “deniers” of Moroccan security are systematically contradicted by Hammouchi’s concrete achievements, who is recognized for his role in the fight against terrorism and organized crime. The fact that Arab interior ministers, including the Algerian minister, have praised his vital role during the Prince Nayef Order ceremony demonstrates the scope of his impact at both regional and international levels. This type of recognition clearly shows that unfounded attacks are futile and ineffective in the face of the undeniable results achieved by Hammouchi and his team.

It is interesting to note that Hicham Gerando’s attack on the Moroccan police and his accusations of negligence in the fight against drug trafficking have been contradicted by far more tangible accomplishments. While Gerando and others try to tarnish the institution’s image, it is the ministers of the 22 Arab countries who, through their testimonies, have highlighted Abdelatif Hammouchi’s invaluable contribution to preserving regional security. Who should we believe: the unfounded accusations of some individuals, or the ministers responsible for security in the Arab world?

In addition to Arab recognitions, France and Spain have also acknowledged Hammouchi’s work through honorary distinctions. France awarded Hammouchi several prestigious medals, including the Legion of Honor and the Gold Medal of the National Police in 2024. These distinctions, which multiply over the years, are an explicit recognition of the effectiveness of the Moroccan security model in the fight against global terrorism. In Spain, the government also honored Hammouchi with the highest security award, highlighting his key role in the fight against terrorism and transnational crime.

The response to those attempting to discredit the Moroccan police and its director-general comes, paradoxically, from the countries benefiting from his efforts. When Zakaria Mounir spread false accusations of torture in Morocco, France, the country whose nationality he held, responded with praise for Abdelatif Hammouchi, commending his role in preventing terrorist attacks. These international testimonies contradict defamatory allegations and highlight the reality of the work carried out by the Moroccan police under Hammouchi’s leadership.

Abdelatif Hammouchi continues to demonstrate that achievements speak for themselves. While some prefer the path of slander, the facts and the awards he receives from international institutions only reinforce his leadership position in security. These distinctions are far more than personal honors; they reflect the Moroccan security model, which inspires not only Arab countries but also global powers like France and Spain.

In the end, the numerous international awards and praise received by Abdelatif Hammouchi prove that effectiveness in security is measured through concrete results, not through the hateful speeches and baseless accusations of those trying to undermine Morocco’s image. Hammouchi’s achievements will be engraved in the annals of global security history, and attempts at defamation will never overshadow his legacy.
