GenZ212: the disintegration of an exhausted movement

The mobilization of the pseudo-movement GenZ212 now shows clear signs of irreversible exhaustion. Barely twenty people gathered yesterday in front of the Parliament in Rabat, confirming the evident popular disapproval it now faces. Far from its early momentum, the increasingly rare and uninspired gatherings reflect the depletion of a movement struggling to rekindle the flame of civic engagement.

Initially presented as the voice of a Moroccan youth seeking renewal, GenZ212 quickly lost its way. Its legitimate social demands employment, education, housing were sidelined in favor of confusing and politicized rhetoric. This shift sowed discord within the movement, creating deep internal divisions and the loss of a clear direction. The absence of strong and credible leadership only worsened this disorganization.

These internal fractures led to the gradual withdrawal of several factions and founding members, further weakening the structure of the movement. This fragmentation deprived GenZ212 of any cohesion, making it impossible to develop a common and coherent project. Without unified leadership, each group pursued its own path, reinforcing the image of a divided and rudderless movement.

On the ground, the youth who were meant to carry this dynamic now find themselves disoriented. Many young people, once attracted by the promise of collective commitment, now feel betrayed and disillusioned. The confusion of messages, internal disputes, and the opportunism of certain members have eroded trust and stifled any real ambition for change.

The verdict of public opinion is clear: GenZ212 no longer embodies hope, but disappointment. By relying on provocation and victimization instead of constructive proposals, the movement has isolated itself and emptied of substance. What was meant to be a civic surge has turned into an empty shell, undermined by division, loss of direction, and the absence of genuine leadership.
