Donald Trump’s adviser: “King Mohammed VI has extended his hand to the Algerian president for a fraternal reconciliation; now it is up to Tebboune to respond”

Massad Boulos, adviser to former U.S. President Donald Trump, praised King Mohammed VI’s initiative in once again extending his hand to Algerian President Abdelmadjid Tebboune for a fraternal reconciliation between the two neighboring countries. In an interview with Al Arabiya Al Hadath, he emphasized that this royal gesture reflects “a sincere desire to overcome long-standing political differences” and to open “a new era of cooperation and mutual understanding.”

The American official stated that the fiftieth anniversary of the Sahara issue represents “a historic opportunity” for Algeria to turn the page and contribute to regional stability. He stressed that the spirit of openness shown by the Moroccan monarch should be welcomed positively by Algiers, as it reflects a genuine will for reconciliation based on the deep bonds linking the two peoples.

Massad Boulos recalled that the United States “places its trust in President Tebboune’s wisdom and in the awareness of the Moroccan and Algerian peoples to achieve peace and security in the Maghreb region.” He affirmed that Washington maintains an equal distance from both countries and supports all diplomatic initiatives aimed at ensuring the stability of the Maghreb and the Sahel.

Addressing the Sahara issue, the American adviser made clear that his country fully supports the UN-led process, in line with the Security Council’s resolutions. He reiterated that the Moroccan autonomy proposal remains, in Washington’s view, “the only serious and credible basis” for negotiation, noting that recent weeks have witnessed close cooperation between the United States, Morocco, and Algeria to facilitate the adoption of the UN resolution, with no secret talks taking place between the parties.

In conclusion, Massad Boulos praised Morocco’s constructive attitude, highlighting its sense of responsibility and openness toward initiatives aimed at resolving regional disputes. He asserted that “the ball is now in Algeria’s court,” calling on President Tebboune to respond positively to King Mohammed VI’s outstretched hand and to work toward a genuine reconciliation that serves the peace, prosperity, and unity of the Maghreb.
