Morocco cooperates with Spain and France in a decisive blow against transnational drug trafficking

Morocco’s General Directorate of National Security (DGSN) played a key role in dismantling a major international drug trafficking operation, facilitating the interception of a shipment of 15 tons of hashish bound for Spain.

This success results from effective cooperation between Moroccan, Spanish, and French authorities, reaffirming Morocco’s strong commitment to combating transnational crime. Intelligence provided by Morocco was crucial for the Spanish National Police to identify and track a suspicious truck from its departure at a Moroccan port to its arrival in Almería.

The operation, which also involved the French Judicial Police’s Anti-Drug Office, ended with the arrest of five individuals and the seizure of the illicit cargo. The hashish was cleverly concealed between pallets of watermelons and plastic replicas of sweet potatoes, demonstrating the sophistication of trafficking networks and the need for reinforced international cooperation.

Spanish authorities praised the professionalism and swift action of their Moroccan counterparts, highlighting that this bilateral collaboration is essential to curbing drug trafficking. This operational success underscores Morocco’s ongoing commitment to fighting drug trafficking and its active role in preserving regional and international security.

The DGSN continues to strengthen its intelligence capabilities and international cooperation to effectively dismantle criminal networks and prevent the flow of illicit drugs. This case perfectly illustrates the effectiveness of international cooperation and confirms Morocco’s position as a key partner in the fight against transnational organized crime.
