Significant seizure of cocaine in the province of Tetouan thanks to a joint operation by security forces

On August 9, 2025, a security operation carried out by the judicial police elements of the province of Tetouan, in coordination with the General Directorate for National Territory Surveillance, led to the arrest of six people, including two women, suspected of being involved in a case of drug trafficking and promotion, specifically cocaine.

This operation, conducted in collaboration with elements of the Royal Gendarmerie in the rural commune of Asfar Chqaq, in the province of M’diq-Fnideq, resulted in the arrest of two individuals in possession of four blocks totaling 4 kilograms and 600 grams of cocaine.

Investigations also led to the apprehension of a third individual from the same family, residing in a house in the rural commune of Addardab. He is considered the main suspect in the cocaine trafficking case. During his arrest, law enforcement faced violent resistance, which required the use of firearms, leading to the arrest of two additional suspects. Furthermore, a used firearm was seized during this intervention.

The investigation deepened with a search of the main suspect’s residence, where authorities discovered a large bladed weapon, an additional 200 grams of cocaine, two electric meters, as well as license plates intended for falsifying vehicle numbers, presumably used to facilitate the criminal activity.

The coordination between the judicial police services and the Royal Gendarmerie, supported by the national database, allowed for effectively targeting this drug trafficking network, confirming the direct involvement of the main suspect in several similar cases.

The suspect was placed under judicial supervision, under the oversight of the competent prosecutor’s office, which continues its investigation to uncover all circumstances surrounding this case as well as potential ramifications related to this criminal activity.
