Marrakech: investigation opened into a police officer suspected of attempted corruption

On August 8, 2025, the Security Department of Marrakech opened an investigation regarding professional misconduct and functional breaches attributed to a police officer assigned to the traffic brigade of the same city.

This procedure follows the dissemination on social media of a video showing the officer attempting to collect a sum of money from a driver in violation, an amount higher than that mentioned in the fixed fine report, raising suspicion of attempted corruption.

The officer is currently subject to an administrative investigation to determine the exact circumstances of the facts, with a view to taking appropriate disciplinary and judicial measures.

Meanwhile, the General Directorate of National Security has decided on the provisional suspension of the officer concerned, in accordance with the disciplinary provisions of the national police officers’ statute.
