King Felipe VI highlights the friendship and cooperation that underpin relations with Morocco

On the occasion of the IX Conference of Spanish Ambassadors, King Felipe VI emphasized the privileged nature of relations between Spain and Morocco, calling for their further strengthening within a framework of friendship and good neighborliness.

“We will continue to advance our bilateral agenda with Morocco, a country with which we must deepen our collaboration in the spirit of friendship and cooperation that defines our special neighborly relations,” stated the King.

He also highlighted the importance of strategic alliances in Spanish foreign policy, particularly through forums such as the 5+5 Dialogue, the Union for the Mediterranean (UfM), and transatlantic relations.

“Relations with Maghreb countries will remain essential. We are aware of the challenges facing the region and are committed to continuing our efforts to find concerted solutions. This is why we have dedicated so much energy to drawing the attention of our partners and allies to this region, our southern neighborhood,” he affirmed.

Furthermore, King Felipe VI stressed the need to consolidate cooperation with the African continent, praising the new Spain-Africa 2025-2028 strategy, which he described as a clear and ambitious roadmap.

“Africa is, and will continue to be, a region facing great challenges, but it is vital for the security and stability of Europeans. Maritime security, counterterrorism, humanitarian aid, migration, and development cooperation must remain priorities on our African agenda. We must support positive dynamics on the continent, the virtuous circles of democracy and prosperity. The Spain-Africa 2025-2028 strategy sets out an ambitious path for the future and raises our country’s profile on the continent,” he concluded.
