The King inaugurates the construction of a regional emergency reserve platform in Rabat-Salé-Kenitra

On Wednesday, May 7, 2025, His Majesty King Mohammed VI, accompanied by His Royal Highness Crown Prince Moulay El Hassan, presided over the groundbreaking ceremony for a regional emergency reserve platform in the commune of Ameur, in the Salé prefecture. This strategic project is part of Morocco’s disaster resilience model and aims to ensure a rapid and coordinated response in times of crisis.
The platform for the Rabat-Salé-Kenitra region has a budget of 287.5 million dirhams and will be built on a 20-hectare site. It is expected to be operational within 12 months. The site will include four warehouses of 5,000 m² each, two shelters for large-scale equipment, a helipad, and parking areas—positioning it as a central hub for emergency logistics.
This initiative is part of a broader national program presented to the King, which plans for the creation of twelve similar platforms across the country. The total investment amounts to 7 billion dirhams: 2 billion for construction and 5 billion for the acquisition of supplies and equipment. The platforms will cover a total of 240 hectares and host 36 warehouses, strategically located based on population density and regional risk profiles.
The six most populated regions—Casablanca-Settat, Rabat-Salé-Kenitra, Marrakech-Safi, Fès-Meknès, Tangier-Tetouan-Al Hoceima, and Souss-Massa—will each receive platforms with four warehouses totaling 20,000 m². The six remaining regions will have platforms with two warehouses totaling 10,000 m², ensuring nationwide emergency preparedness coverage.
The strategic reserves stored in these platforms will allow for immediate deployment after a disaster. They will include 200,000 tents with associated equipment (beds, mattresses, blankets), mobile kitchens and bakeries, food kits, water purification units, power generators, and specialized materials for floods, earthquakes, landslides, and chemical, industrial, or radiological risks.
In the healthcare domain, six 50-bed field hospitals will be established in a first phase, with another six in a second phase, in addition to advanced medical posts for triage and first aid. Medicine reserves will also be stocked to meet the immediate needs of those affected. Specialized teams will manage the logistics under strict quality controls.
This forward-looking program aims to triple Morocco’s emergency response capacity as demonstrated after the Al Haouz earthquake and promote the development of a national industry for emergency equipment. Based on detailed regional risk assessments and best international practices, this project will significantly strengthen Morocco’s emergency infrastructure and ensure faster, more efficient aid to impacted populations.
