His Majesty the King Receives Three New Members of the Supreme Council of the Judiciary

His Majesty King Mohammed VI, may God assist Him, President of the Supreme Council of the Judiciary, received on Monday, May 12, 2025, at the Royal Palace in Rabat, three new members of the Council.
They are:Mr. Hicham Belaoui, appointed by the King as Public Prosecutor at the Court of Cassation, Head of the Public Prosecution and member of the Supreme Council of the Judiciary.Mr. Hassan Tarik, appointed member of the Council in his capacity as the Kingdom’s Ombudsman.Mr. Farid El Bacha, designated by the King as a member of the Supreme Council of the Judiciary.
On this occasion, the new members took the oath of office before His Majesty the King.The ceremony was held in the presence of Mr. Mohamed Abdennabaoui, First Deputy President of the Supreme Council of the Judiciary.
The Council, chaired by the King, oversees the guarantees granted to judges, particularly regarding their independence, appointment, promotion, retirement, and disciplinary actions.
The Council may, on its own initiative, produce reports on the state of justice and the judicial system and issue relevant recommendations. It also provides detailed opinions on matters related to justice, at the request of the King, the Government, or Parliament, in accordance with the principle of separation of powers.
According to Article 115 of the Constitution, the Council is composed of the First President of the Court of Cassation as Deputy President, the Public Prosecutor at the same court, the President of its First Chamber, four representatives elected by the judges of the Courts of Appeal, and six elected by the judges of the first instance courts.
The Council also includes the Kingdom’s Ombudsman, the President of the National Human Rights Council, and five individuals appointed by the King, recognized for their competence, impartiality, integrity, and outstanding contribution to judicial independence and the rule of law.
