Arab Summit: H.M. King Mohammed VI calls for an immediate ceasefire in the West Bank and Gaza

At the 34th Summit of the League of Arab States in Baghdad, His Majesty King Mohammed VI issued an urgent call for the immediate halt of military operations in the West Bank and the Gaza Strip. In light of the deteriorating situation following the collapse of the ceasefire in Gaza, the Sovereign emphasized the urgent need to resume negotiations as soon as possible to reach a lasting agreement that ends hostilities.
The King stressed the urgency of intervening to stop Israeli military actions, including the demolition of homes and the forced displacement of unarmed civilians under Israeli control in the West Bank. He also called for ensuring that humanitarian aid — including medical supplies, food, and other essentials — continues to be delivered without obstruction, while highlighting the importance of supporting the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) in its mandate.
H.M. the King requested the development of an integrated roadmap, under the authority of the Palestinian National Authority and with Arab and international oversight, to launch the reconstruction plan adopted at the last Arab summit in Cairo, ensuring no population displacement.
Reaffirming Morocco’s historic and consistent position in support of the Palestinian people, the Sovereign underscored the necessity of a just political solution based on the establishment of an independent Palestinian state according to the 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital and including the Gaza Strip.
He also stressed the importance of supporting the Palestinian Authority under President Mahmoud Abbas to strengthen its institutions and enable the Palestinian people to achieve their aspirations for security, peace, development, and prosperity. Palestinian national reconciliation was highlighted as a key factor for any future peace process.
As President of the Al-Quds Committee, His Majesty the King renewed his commitment to protecting the holy sites of Jerusalem, combining political and diplomatic efforts with concrete projects carried out by the Bayt Mal Al-Quds Agency. The goal is to preserve the cultural and spiritual identity of the Holy City while improving the living conditions of its residents to help them resist and remain in their homeland.
