Egypt Reaffirms in Rabat Its Commitment to the Sovereignty and Territorial Integrity of States

During his official visit to Morocco, the Egyptian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Immigration, and Affairs of Egyptians Abroad, Dr. Badr Abdel Aaty, reaffirmed on Wednesday in Rabat Egypt’s unwavering commitment to the sovereignty of states and their territorial integrity. This statement follows the principles outlined in the Joint Communiqué of May 10, 2022, issued after the visit of the former Egyptian foreign minister to Rabat.

Speaking to the press after his meeting with Moroccan Foreign Minister Nasser Bourita, Dr. Abdel Aaty emphasized the pillars of Egypt’s foreign policy. He stated that Egypt stands firmly for national sovereignty, non-interference in internal affairs of states, and the promotion of regional peace and stability.

Dr. Abdel Aaty highlighted the alignment of views between Cairo and Rabat on many regional and international issues. He also praised the quality of political dialogue between the two countries, which strengthens a bilateral cooperation based on mutual trust and adherence to the principles of the United Nations Charter.

The Egyptian minister stressed the importance of joint action to reinforce stability and promote economic development across the Arab world and the African continent. He noted that only sincere and equitable cooperation can allow the region’s people to aspire to a better future, away from geopolitical tensions and divisions.

This visit to Rabat thus reflects the shared determination of Morocco and Egypt to deepen their strategic partnership and jointly defend the core principles of international law, particularly respect for sovereignty, unity, and the territorial integrity of states.
