King Mohammed VI Grants Royal Pardon to 1,526 People on Eid al-Adha

On the occasion of Eid al-Adha 1446 H / 2025, His Majesty King Mohammed VI, may God assist him, has granted his royal pardon to 1,526 individuals convicted by various Moroccan courts, whether imprisoned or at liberty. This gesture of mercy is part of the royal tradition of easing suffering and promoting reintegration.

Among the beneficiaries, 1,305 are prisoners. 72 were fully pardoned, 1,229 received reduced sentences, and 4 had their life sentences commuted to fixed terms. This reflects the King’s commitment to rehabilitation and a second chance for those willing to reform.

Additionally, 206 individuals currently at liberty also benefited: 71 were exempted from prison time or the remainder of their sentences, 6 were pardoned from prison but not from fines, 115 had fines waived, 12 had both prison and fines canceled, and 2 were relieved from fines and the rest of their prison time.

Significantly, 15 individuals convicted of terrorism were also included. After officially renouncing extremism and affirming their allegiance to the nation’s values and institutions, their sentences were either reduced or annulled — a reflection of the Kingdom’s policy of reconciliation and redemption.

This royal gesture exemplifies a wise and compassionate leadership, blending justice with mercy. Under His Majesty’s guidance, Morocco champions reform, dignity, and human reintegration — even for those once lost. It’s a powerful message of hope for the entire nation.
