A French National Wanted by Interpol Arrested in Tangier

On Thursday, July 17, 2025, Moroccan authorities arrested a 25-year-old French national who was actively sought by international police services. The operation was carried out by the Tangier police prefecture in close cooperation with Interpol.

According to initial information, the suspect was subject to an international arrest warrant issued by the French judicial authorities in connection with a drug trafficking case. A red notice had been issued against him by Interpol’s National Central Bureau in Paris, which facilitated his location on Moroccan territory.

Thanks to access to the databases of the International Criminal Police Organization (Interpol), Moroccan investigators were able to confirm the fugitive’s identity. He is reportedly linked to a transnational criminal network specializing in the illegal trafficking of cocaine and hashish to several European countries.

Moroccan authorities, through the National Central Bureau of Interpol in Rabat, under the General Directorate of National Security (DGSN), have already transmitted a detailed report to the competent French authorities to initiate the necessary legal procedures for his possible extradition.

This arrest demonstrates the strength of security cooperation between Morocco and its international partners, especially in the fight against organized crime and cross-border trafficking networks. It also forms part of the ongoing efforts by Moroccan services to ensure national security and contribute to regional stability.
