The Moroccan police arrested a French citizen in Marrakech under an international arrest warrant.

Officers from the Marrakech prefecture police, in coordination with the services of the General Directorate of National Territorial Surveillance, arrested a 43-year-old French citizen on the morning of Monday, February 3. This arrest was made based on an international arrest warrant issued by the French judicial authorities to enforce a criminal conviction related to an attempted murder.

The arrest of this French citizen took place as part of a security operation carried out in the city of Marrakech, after an observation mission located him in a hotel establishment. According to data from Interpol’s wanted persons system, he was the subject of a red notice, which had been disseminated and published based on an international arrest warrant issued by the French judicial authorities.

According to the initial investigations, the arrested French citizen is wanted by the French judiciary to serve the sentences imposed in a criminal conviction, where he was found guilty in a case related to an attempted murder. The suspect was placed under provisional detention while the French authorities carry out procedures for his extradition.

The arrest of this sought-after French citizen is part of international cooperation in security matters, as well as the efforts made by Moroccan security services to track down internationally sought individuals in cross-border criminal cases.
