Mr. Hammouchi Highlights the Moroccan Security Model at Interpol General Assembly

The speech delivered by the Director General of the DGSN-DGST, Abdellatif Hammouchi, during the opening of the 93rd Interpol General Assembly in Marrakech, was one of the highlights of this international event. In a global context marked by the proliferation of transnational threats, Mr. Hammouchi presented Morocco’s strategic vision regarding security and international cooperation.
From the beginning of his address, the Moroccan official welcomed the presence of delegations from around the world and reminded participants that Marrakech is no stranger to hosting Interpol events: in 2007, the Red City already hosted the 76th Interpol General Assembly. This return, he emphasized, reflects the renewed confidence of the international community in the Moroccan security model and its growing role on the global stage.
Hammouchi stressed that Morocco’s selection as host for this session was no coincidence. According to him, it reflects the Kingdom’s ongoing commitment to multilateral cooperation and its determination to actively participate in building strong alliances against transnational challenges that are redefining the contours of crime and terrorism today.
The Director General then presented the “Moroccan method” of security, based on an integrated approach combining operational efficiency, respect for human rights, and continuous adaptation to emerging risks. For Hammouchi, the fight against crime can no longer be confined to physical borders: it must also extend to digital spaces, which have become a privileged ground for extremist and criminal networks.
He called for the strengthening of international cooperation mechanisms, highlighting the need to build shared, non-fragmented security structures capable of acting jointly across multiple continents. The goal is to develop fast, reliable, and secure tools for information exchange and to multiply coordinated operations to respond to threats evolving faster than national legislation.
Hammouchi also emphasized Interpol’s central role in facilitating cooperation among police forces worldwide. Facing the increasing digitalization of threats and the emergence of new forms of crime, he called for greater collective responsibility among states to contain these phenomena and protect international security.
The Director General concluded his speech by expressing confidence in the success of the 93rd General Assembly and the outcomes of its forthcoming work. He reaffirmed Morocco’s commitment to strengthening cooperation with Interpol and all member states, asserting that global security is a collective good that requires shared mobilization and equitable partnerships.
