At Interpol Marrakech, Mohamed Ben Ali Koman praises the Moroccan security model shaped by the Royal vision

During the 93rd General Assembly of Interpol held in Marrakech, Mohamed Ben Ali Koman, Secretary General of the Council of Arab Interior Ministers, highlighted the remarkable transformation of Morocco’s security system. He emphasized that the vision of His Majesty King Mohammed VI has enabled the country to move beyond a traditional approach focused solely on combating crime, toward a model in which security forces play an active role in national development.

On the sidelines of the international police organization’s work, Mr. Koman recalled that preserving stability constitutes a fundamental pillar of the Kingdom’s economic and social momentum. He added that the Moroccan security institution has adopted a modern strategy based on anticipation, openness and innovation, reflecting the determination to implement the Royal directives for a Morocco committed to progress.

The Arab official also stressed the human dimension of Moroccan police action. He praised the central role given to protecting citizens’ fundamental rights and dignity. In this regard, he highlighted the impact of the DGSN “Open Days”, which have become an annual event aimed at strengthening trust and bringing the public closer to the security forces.

According to Mr. Koman, this civic and educational initiative has not only transformed the relationship between Moroccans and their police, but has also become a source of inspiration for many Arab and foreign countries seeking to modernize their own security models. It illustrates, in his view, the profound evolution of an institution that now places the citizen at the heart of its priorities.

He further emphasized the growing international recognition of Morocco’s security expertise. The awards granted to Mr. Abdellatif Hammouchi, Director General of the DGSN-DGST, as well as Morocco’s recent election as Interpol’s Vice-President for Africa, attest to this reputation. These achievements reflect the credibility of a model that has become a benchmark in the region.

Finally, Mr. Koman underlined that hosting this Interpol session in Marrakech, marked by record participation, offers an international platform to showcase Moroccan know-how. The Kingdom, already acknowledged as a key player in Arab security cooperation, strengthens its position by hosting specialized institutions such as the Arab Organization for Social Defense against Crime and the Arab Civil Protection Office. This dynamic is fully aligned with the Royal vision of a safe, sustainably developed nation committed to protecting its citizens.
