Tetouan: Arrest of a jihadist in the midst of an imminent terrorist plot

The police services in Tetouan arrested a 26-year-old man, a sympathizer of the terrorist organization “Daesh,” on Wednesday, November 26, while he was preparing a major attack aimed at disrupting public order. The operation was made possible thanks to precise information provided by the General Directorate for Territorial Surveillance.
According to a statement from the Central Bureau of Judicial Investigations (BCIJ), the suspect carried a large bladed weapon that he intended to use in carrying out his terrorist plans. Investigators also noted that the individual had drawn attention by sharing content on social media related to Daesh activities.
A search of his residence led to the seizure of a flag symbolizing this terrorist organization, confirming the suspect’s ideological commitment. These findings highlight the importance of authorities’ vigilance against radicalization and potential threats on national territory.
The suspect was presented before the Central Bureau of Judicial Investigations and placed in custody to continue investigations under the supervision of the competent anti-terrorism prosecution. The investigation aims to identify all projects attributed to him, as well as his possible connections within Morocco and abroad, once again illustrating the rising terrorist risks facing the Kingdom.
