A new momentum for security training in Morocco with the opening of the Higher Institute of Security Sciences in Ifrane

Morocco’s police training ecosystem has gained a new strategic institution with the inauguration, on Friday in Ifrane, of the Higher Institute of Security Sciences. The ceremony, presided over by the Director General of the DGSN-DGST structure, Abdellatif Hammouchi, marks a significant milestone in the modernization of training programs and in the adaptation of the national security system to the evolving nature of security professions.
The event brought together a wide range of institutional partners, both Moroccan and international, underscoring the global dimension of this initiative. Among the attendees were Abdelmajid Ben Abdallah El Bouniane, president of the Arab Naif University for Security Sciences, and General Rashid Mohamed Bourshid, head of the “Saif bin Zayed” Academy of Abu Dhabi. Several presidents of Moroccan universities also took part, confirming the academic relevance of the project.
The country’s highest judicial and territorial authorities were also present, including the First President of the Court of Cassation and the Deputy President of the Supreme Council of the Judiciary, Mohamed Abdennabaoui. Alongside them, walis, governors, and foreign liaison officers accredited in Morocco highlighted by their participation the strategic importance of the new institute within the national security landscape.
Designed as a key pillar of the DGSN’s forward-looking vision, the Higher Institute of Security Sciences aims to restructure police training programs to meet contemporary challenges: the rise of cyber threats, the increasing sophistication of crime, and the growing importance of artificial intelligence and digitalized procedures. The DGSN emphasizes that this new institution also seeks to strengthen partnerships with national and international entities active in the security field.
Complementing the Royal Police Institute of Kenitra and the regional police schools, the new establishment in Ifrane will organize advanced training cycles, scientific workshops, and joint programs with foreign institutions. Its mission is to train a new generation of security executives capable of anticipating changes on the ground, sharpening their analytical skills, and responding professionally to the most delicate situations.
The partnership agreement signed with the Arab Naif University further reinforces this international dimension. This cooperation aims to stimulate research, innovation, and technical collaboration in various fields, from crime prevention to legal studies and training in modern security technologies. Exchange programs, conferences, and joint research projects are planned, paving the way for the creation of an Arab network of security experts.
The Institute also stands out for its modern infrastructure, designed to offer an immersive training environment: shooting simulation rooms, facilities for high-risk intervention scenarios, a language center, sports areas, accommodation, catering services, and a medical unit. Together, these facilities provide a comprehensive and functional training environment aligned with Morocco’s ambitions in the field of security.
