AFCON 2025: Abdellatif Hammouchi oversees security preparations for the opening match

As part of the preparations for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, the Director General of the DGSN-DGST pole, Mr. Abdellatif Hammouchi, conducted a field visit to the Prince Moulay Abdallah Sports Complex to assess the progress of the security arrangements planned for the opening match.
This visit forms part of a proactive approach aimed at ensuring the highest levels of safety and security for this major continental event. Its main objective was to evaluate the operational measures put in place to guarantee the smooth running of the opening fixture between Morocco and the Union of the Comoros.
Accompanied by senior security officials, notably the Wali of Security of Rabat, Mr. Hammouchi reviewed the various intervention plans, crowd flow management strategies, and the security of the stadium’s surroundings and infrastructure, in accordance with applicable international standards.

The tour included an inspection of spectator facilities as well as command and control centers equipped with advanced video surveillance systems. These arrangements will enable real-time monitoring of all areas of the stadium and ensure immediate responsiveness when required.
A permanent police post has also been established inside the sports complex, tasked with ensuring the strict enforcement of laws and regulations related to the security of sporting events, while safeguarding spectators, teams, and officials.
Furthermore, the DGSN has set up an African Police Cooperation Center for AFCON 2025, bringing together representatives of the security forces of participating countries, along with delegates from the CAF, FIFA, Interpol, and partner countries, in a spirit of coordination and expertise sharing.
Through this comprehensive mobilization, the General Directorate of National Security aims to make AFCON 2025 a benchmark in terms of organization and security, thereby strengthening Morocco’s image as a reliable host country capable of welcoming international sporting events under optimal conditions of safety and serenity.
