The DGSN Strengthens Its Workforce for 2025: A Promising Assessment

The General Directorate for National Security (DGSN) of Morocco has announced a significant increase in its workforce, reaching 10,393 officials for the 2025 fiscal year. This figure represents approximately 68% of the total candidates registered on the promotion lists. Among these new promotions, 466 women have been included, illustrating a commitment to a more balanced representation within the police force.

This promotion is divided between 7,005 uniformed police officers and 3,388 civilians. The DGSN has particularly emphasized the advancement of lower and middle-ranking agents, with 3,564 agents promoted to the rank of police brigadier, 1,269 to chief brigadier, and 1,716 to principal police inspector. This support for lower ranks is essential to enhance the motivation and effectiveness of agents in the field.

Promotion boards have utilized a comprehensive evaluation system that considers performance, annual qualifications, and professional competence. This approach aims to ensure that promotions are not solely based on seniority but also on merit and the ability to carry out assigned missions. This strengthens transparency and trust in the promotion process within the DGSN.

In 2024, the DGSN also recorded an increase in criminal cases, with 755,541 cases processed, compared to 738,748 in 2023. However, a 10% decrease in violent crimes was observed, which is a positive sign for citizen security. The DGSN also dismantled 123 criminal networks involved in illegal immigration and human trafficking, highlighting its commitment to combatting these scourges.

The DGSN is not only increasing its workforce but is also investing in modernizing its infrastructure and services. The new DGSN headquarters in Rabat, which will consolidate all directions and services, is in the final stages of completion. This initiative aims to streamline human and financial resources to enhance the operational efficiency of police services.

Finally, the DGSN plans to strengthen international cooperation in security matters, particularly in preparation for major upcoming sporting events such as the Africa Cup of Nations 2025 and the 2030 World Cup. Professional qualification projects and new canine patrols are also underway to ensure security during these events. The institution hopes to become a full member of the “Stadia Project” overseen by INTERPOL, aiming to share experiences and strengthen the capabilities of police services for organizing sporting events.
