Inauguration of a training school for peacekeepers in Marrakech: a new facility to strengthen the police training system

On the occasion of the commemoration of the presentation of the Independence Manifesto, the General Directorate of National Security (DGSN) inaugurated a new police training school in Marrakech. Named the “Training School for Peacekeepers,” this institution reflects the DGSN’s commitment to modernizing and strengthening training capacities in the security field.

This school is part of an ambitious project launched by the DGSN in 2016, aimed at developing a national training infrastructure adapted to contemporary challenges. Built on an area of 7,826 m², it has the capacity to accommodate 500 trainees and includes modern facilities such as classrooms, outdoor training areas, and residences for recruits. These infrastructures create an optimal environment for rigorous and comprehensive training.

The programs offered by the school combine basic training for new recruits with ongoing training for active officers. This approach contributes to improving technical skills and integrating a policing philosophy centered on respecting human rights, protecting citizens, and ensuring quality public service. During a prior visit, the Director General of the DGSN emphasized the importance of instilling these core values in the trainees.

Furthermore, the opening of this school is part of a strategic vision of decentralizing and specializing police training in Morocco. It complements a network of existing centers in cities such as Fez, Tangier, Laayoune, and Oujda. Among these structures, the center in Ifrane, set to open soon, is expected to become a hub for security cooperation at the African and international levels.

This new infrastructure also reflects the DGSN’s intention to geographically bring training closer to trainees and meet the growing needs for security. By developing these regional hubs, the objective is to enhance police service efficiency while providing modern and adapted learning conditions.

With this initiative, the DGSN asserts its central role in maintaining security and public order in Morocco. By training competent agents who respect fundamental rights and are equipped with the tools to tackle today’s security challenges, the institution reaffirms its commitment to serving and protecting citizens within an exemplary framework.
