Arrest in Marrakech of a French citizen of Tunisian origin wanted by French justice

Security services at Marrakech-Menara Airport arrested a 40-year-old French citizen of Tunisian origin on Tuesday, February 11, 2025, in execution of an international arrest warrant issued by the French judicial authorities. This arrest is part of security cooperation between Morocco and its international partners.
According to a security source, the individual was apprehended after his identity was checked against the database of the International Criminal Police Organization (Interpol). The results confirmed that he was internationally wanted for his alleged involvement in a case of international drug and psychotropic substance trafficking.
Following his arrest, the suspect was placed in custody pending extradition procedures. The French authorities were immediately notified of the arrest to initiate the necessary steps for his transfer to France, where he will have to answer the charges against him.
This operation demonstrates the effectiveness of the control measures implemented by Moroccan law enforcement agencies at the country’s airport facilities. It also highlights Morocco’s commitment to combating transnational crime, particularly through information exchange and cooperation with international security bodies.
The arrest of this French national is part of a broader effort of collaboration between Morocco and its foreign partners to combat criminal networks operating on an international scale. It reaffirms the Kingdom’s strategic role as a key player in regional security and the fight against organized crime.
