Al Hoceima: Foiling of an Illegal Migration Attempt and Arrest of the Main Suspect

Police officers from the Regional Security of Al Hoceima, based on precise information provided by the General Directorate of Territorial Surveillance, successfully thwarted an illegal migration attempt via maritime routes on Friday, March 28.

According to a security source, this operation led to the arrest of the main suspect in flagrante delicto as he was preparing to organize an illegal migration trip from the coasts of the Imzouren region, intended for seven migrants who were apprehended on the spot.

The same source stated that during the search, authorities seized two traditional boats equipped with marine engines, docked at the traditional fishing port in the Driouch region, along with sums of money suspected to be linked to this operation.

The main suspect, who has a criminal record related to organizing illegal migration and human trafficking, was identified through the national security database.

According to the security source, the suspect has been placed under preventive custody, while the illegal migration candidates are being investigated under the supervision of the competent public prosecutor’s office, aiming to uncover all aspects of the case and identify any potential national or international links.
