Lyon: Morocco elected vice-president of Interpol’s international cybercrime expert group

On June 5, 2025, at the headquarters of the International Criminal Police Organization (Interpol) in Lyon, France, Morocco’s representative, Leila Zouine—Regional Police Commissioner and Head of the Cybercrime Unit at the General Directorate of National Security (DGSN)—was elected Vice-President of the International Expert Group on Cybercrime.
This election took place during the group’s first annual meeting, held on June 4–5 in Lyon. During the event, members appointed the various governance bodies of the expert group, emphasizing the growing importance of international cooperation in cybersecurity.
Leila Zouine will assume the role of Vice-President in charge of the strategic pillar known as “empowerment.” This responsibility includes developing mechanisms and procedures to enhance the legal and technical protection of cybercrime victims, as well as equipping law enforcement with the necessary capabilities to investigate and combat technologically driven crimes.
Her appointment reflects international recognition of Morocco’s cybersecurity expertise and the ongoing reform dynamic led by the DGSN. It also underscores the confidence in Morocco’s ability to contribute to the creation of global standards in combating digital threats.
Through this election, Morocco strengthens its presence within international police cooperation bodies and reaffirms its commitment to a coordinated, proactive, and collaborative approach to fighting cybercrime.
