Moroccan Police arrest woman involved in Jerando’s network

The National Judicial Police Brigade is stepping up its operation against the blackmail and defamation network led by Hicham Jerando, a “YouTuber” based in Canada. This new phase follows the arrest of Shaima E., a Moroccan citizen living in Canada, detained upon arrival at Casablanca Mohammed V International Airport.

Shaima E. was wanted nationally for her active role in collecting illegal funds linked to blackmail campaigns carried out by Jerando and his accomplices. Her arrest deals a heavy blow to this criminal network as investigations continue to identify and dismantle all links in the chain.

Investigations reveal that the suspect managed the receipt of extorted sums in Canada, including an amount exceeding 6,400 Canadian dollars, transferred through intermediaries. These funds come from victims pressured via social media, orchestrated by Jerando for purely malicious and lucrative purposes.

The main accused, Hicham Jerando, used his networks to organize a well-structured blackmail system, involving intermediaries responsible for receiving money from victims before passing it to Shaima E. She used her job at an immigration agency in Canada as cover for these illegal financial operations.

This arrest follows several others of Jerando’s accomplices acting behind the scenes to support a vast network of cyber harassment, insults, and defamation. The scale of this criminal system shows the methodical organization set up to harm victims and extort money under the shield of digital anonymity.

However, despite these revelations, Jerando continues to benefit from troubling impunity in Canada. Canadian authorities delay firm action, allowing this network to prosper from their territory. This inaction raises serious questions about the authorities’ responsibility in fighting transnational cybercrime.

It is urgent that Canada review its stance and act with the necessary rigor to stop Jerando and his accomplices. The tolerance they enjoy helps make the country a refuge for these digital criminals, to the detriment of victims who often remain helpless against this kind of blackmail.

This operation by Moroccan police sends a clear message: harassment, defamation, and blackmail, even when organized remotely, will be pursued and punished. It also highlights the need for strengthened international cooperation to effectively combat these modern criminal networks.
